I really enjoy supporting these children. They are very good footballers and I want to see some of them play for Ghana (national team)

Our Impact
Our Stories
Every child at Club Académico has a remarkable story. Despite facing adversities at a young age, they continue to strive for a fairer world. Here are some of their inspiring journeys.

John Journey with Club Académico
John joined Club Académico as a primary 3 student. Despite being one of the youngest in the group, his hard work and passion for both education and football quickly earned him the role of captain. Tragically, John's mother passed away, and he had to move to the central region to live with his grandmother. Months later, Club Académico learned that John was unhappy living with his grandmother and had stopped attending school.
Upon hearing this, the club acted swiftly. We met with John's grandmother and arranged for him to move back to live with one of our volunteer teachers, ensuring he could return to school. John is now back with his friends, still serving as his group's captain. He continues to lead by example, demonstrating resilience and dedication to his fellow members. John's story is a proof to the supportive community at Club Académico, where we prioritize the well-being and development of our young athletes.

Over 150 Graduates
Since its establishment in 2016, Club Académico has positively impacted the lives of over 180 young boys and girls. The club provides comprehensive support to its members, helping them pursue higher or vocational education. By offering information and preparation for life after the program, Club Académico ensures that its members are well-equipped for their future endeavours. Additionally, the club liaises with local senior football teams to facilitate opportunities for those who wish to pursue a football career.
100% Full-Time Education
All members of our program are enrolled in full-time education. This commitment to academic excellence ensures that our young athletes receive a well-rounded education while pursuing their passion for football. By maintaining a balance between sports and academics, Club Académico fosters the holistic development of its members.
Inspiring Young Girls
Club Académico is committed to inclusivity and has incorporated young girls into the project. By providing equal opportunities for girls to participate in both football and educational programs, the program promotes gender equality and empowers young women to pursue their dreams. This inclusive approach ensures that all children, regardless of gender, can benefit from the club's resources and support.
For Shama District and Beyond
Our program benefits over seven communities, including children from other regions such as Accra, the capital city of Ghana. Some parents enrol their children in our program to remove them from gang-related activities and place them in an environment that fosters respect for society and one’s responsibility to themselves and those around. These children live with our volunteer teachers, ensuring they are actively involved in school and Club Académico activities. This inclusive approach supports the development of our members and strengthens bonds within and between communities. By providing a safe and nurturing environment, Club Académico promotes social cohesion and mutual support.

Sherifatu’s Inspirational Journey with Club Académico
Sherifatu is one of the first girls to join Club Académico, making her mark as a trailblazer in the program. She was scouted during an inter-school sports festival, where her natural talent and passion for football caught the attention of her teachers. Sherifatu's skills and character led to her inclusion in the Club Académico program, paving the way for other girls to follow.
Since Sherifatu joined, many parents have enrolled their daughters in the program, inspired by her example. Sherifatu is a role model for girls' football in the region, challenging traditional views that football is a game only for boys. Her dedication and success have proven that girls can excel in the sport, inspiring a new generation of female athletes. Sherifatu’s journey with Club Académico highlights the importance of inclusivity and the transformative power of sports in breaking down gender barriers.

Prince's Transformation with Club Académico
Prince was referred to Club Académico by a local teacher due to his frequent school absences, which had led to him repeating a grade. However, since joining our program, Prince has undergone a remarkable transformation. He has become a model student, actively participating in both his studies and school activities. John's dedication and enthusiasm have not gone unnoticed. Prince dreams of becoming a professional footballer and has set his sights on playing for Chelsea FC when he grows up. His commitment to both his education and football training exemplifies the positive impact of Club Académico's holistic approach. Prince's journey is a testament to the power of support and encouragement in helping young people achieve their full potential.
