Club Académico was founded and is led by individuals with lived experience. Our team includes professional teachers, footballers, professional football coaches, financial managers, and engineers, all united by a shared commitment to empowering young people across the Shama district and beyond.

Donations and funds raised go directly towards the day-to-day running of the program. This includes transportation to matches and educational excursions, teaching materials, and training equipment.

At the start of each school year, children receive back-to-school kits containing string bags, exercise books, and (where needed) school uniforms and shoes. We also provide training kits and football boots for children whose families cannot afford them. By doing this, we aim to remove barriers to education and help our members dream of a brighter future.

Currently, we operate from a community park that, unfortunately, lacks safety and suitable facilities. However, we’ve identified a centrally located space (accessible to children from multiple communities) that could become our permanent home at a fraction of the usual cost. This opportunity is a testament to the impact we’re making.
